If you like to snack, then start "movement snacking"!

Kyle Dzintars, a mental health counselor in the SUNY Oswego Counseling Services Center, hosts Mindful Chats. Mindful Chats is a series designed to help get some info and resources out to students, faculty, and staff who may be struggling with the abrupt change we are. In this episode, Kyle and I discuss the importance of movement and how to re-frame the narrative of exercise to help us find beneficial ways of promoting physical health and mental health. We discuss the idea of "Movement Snacking," which involves finding small moments throughout the day to incorporate some movement, like doing some pushups, walking up the stairs, doing a dance, or taking a short walk. We discuss some research that shows having small moments of movement actually help to reduce inflammation in the body and promotes clear thinking. Unsure what to do in your limited space? We discuss some practical ideas that you can do even in your one bedroom apartment. Try it out and let us know how you are moving to take care of yourself!
